Situation: In the modern age, where almost everything has moved online, parents were still spending 20-40 hours on tedious paperwork and phone calls to secure a spot for their children in daycares and preschools. The traditional application process was fragmented, time-consuming, and lacked transparency, making it a significant pain point for working parents.

Task: The objective was to develop a centralized online portal, Munchkin Mailbox, where parents could search, review, and apply to multiple daycares and preschools seamlessly. The platform aimed to simplify the application process, reduce the time parents spend on applications, and provide a more transparent system for both parents and childcare facilities.

Action:

  1. Market Research: Conducted over 100 surveys and interviews with parents to understand their challenges and expectations from such a platform.

  2. Portal Development: Designed and launched a user-friendly website where parents could complete a custom application and directly deposit application fees to the childcare facility’s bank account.

  3. Collaboration: Partnered with various daycares and preschools to onboard them onto the platform, ensuring a wide range of options for parents.

  4. User Testing: Rolled out the platform to a select group of parents for beta testing, gathering feedback, and making necessary optimization iteration.

  5. Marketing and Outreach: Focused on organic marketing and referrals significantly reduced the customer acquisition cost (CAC) from $26 to $11.
